Change
Sometimes roadtrips can be more than you ever expected. Sometimes they can feel like you’ve lived an eternity in only a couple weeks. Sometimes they can open doors to places you never imagined and imprint you with experiences that fundamentally change who you are forever.
I love when roadtrips take on a life of their own, when they almost personify themselves, giving you direction, guiding you through the experience. I truly believe if you trust that the road will take care of you, she will.
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.
