Returning To Our Roots

I just finished reading a great book about 13 Indigenous Grandmothers from all over the world. They’ve gathered to pray, speak, and honor tradition. Most importantly and above all, they have come together to inspire peace. They’ve realized that our planet is shifting and understand the need for change.

To begin, we need to return.

I absolutely believe that we all need to return to our roots and rediscover where it is we come from. Somehow we’ve become separated – from each other, from the planet and from ourselves. Some of us were lucky to have had traditions, ceremonies and the old ways past down from generation to generation, and some of us were not. The Grandmothers understand that the time has come for all of us to remember that there was a time when we used to respect the land and were a part of nature. Today, we have completely excluded ourselves as a separate entity. But even those of us who are disconnected from our past can still receive those teachings. In order to do that, we must be able to remain open, and free ourselves of things that no longer serve us – both physically and emotionally. A shift in perspective is something that the Grandmothers say is naturally happening now and the ‘awakening’ of consciousness is available to everyone, if we are open to it. For me, it has been through people, dreams and intuition that I’ve realized my life needs to change. Things have happened to me this past year that cannot be explained.

Life’s road map is occasionally shown to us and sometimes it’s not. But it’s in times that the road seems to have disappeared completely where I believe it’s our opportunity to learn the most.

In times of nothingness, we experience everything.

One of the hardest things for me to do is to just let go. But whenever I do, I receive everything I need.

Freeing ourselves from things that no longer serve us is a biggie for me. Even just down to a particular thought that eats away at you for whatever reason. Once the thought is acknowledged and let go, it seems to create a space for something more magical to appear. Thanks for reminding me.
