A Fortunate Road

Sometimes I think we all need reminders of how lucky we are. Being on the road seems to always gift me with these constant souvenirs.

Here I am wrapping up my three-month road trip shortly. I’m not looking forward to the end, but I can’t help but stop to appreciate being fortunate enough to travel and see the world. I meet so many amazing people and see so many amazing places. It’s usually the ones happened upon by accident or the last minute additions to travel plans that end up being the most magical.

Paul and I recently spent a week in a beautiful cabin tucked away in the Bitterroot Mountains of Montana. Our hosts were Seira, April & family – awesome folks who have the most incredible veggie garden that we had full access to! We were also lucky enough to meet two brand new baby goats that were welcomed into their family during our stay.

From there we decided to drive to Craters of the Moon National Monument to ‘check it out’ and ended up staying a couple of nights. What a crazy, unique, bizarre, volcanic landscape! The energy there is undeniable. We checked out some caves, hiked around in the triple digit heat and I loved every single minute of it. On our way out of the park, we were honored with a most epic thunder and lightening storm circling around us.

Right now I’m sitting here in a cafe just outside of Bend Oregon, excited to see Crater Lake National Park for the first time bright and early tomorrow morning. I’m thinking about all the super cool people we’ve met, fellow travelers, restaurant owners who’ve gone out of their way to make delicious vegan food for us, rangers who have given us tips for the best campsites and hikes in the area so I can’t help but think – I’m a lucky girl.
